A lot has happened this week in regards to this challenge. I had gone through hoodies, and since we are in Indiana and it is April, the weather has been unpredictable. I began using hoodies again a few days ago. I have almost completely gone through long sleeve shirts/sweaters. Also, today marks one of the days I have been wanting to see how far I could go...I made it 98 days to go through a certain article of clothing ;) . I only have a few pairs of socks left. My t-shirts have gone down quite a bit and I only have 7 left, which is another thing I never thought I would see...the bottom of my drawer! I have thinned out the wardrobe quite a bit. My cousin has gotten some new shirts, and the trash got some items, too.
I think that it has been a success so far, but I'm hoping that I can keep going. I haven't used many fitted t-shirts because it's been too cold for them. I may have to end the challenge on some of the spectrum and restart the challenge for the summer on fitted t-shirts. I've started to re-wear some clothes, so the first leg of the challenge is about complete! I will call it complete when my socks and t-shirts are at the end...unless mother nature decides to warm it up and keep it that way!
I'll keep you posted!

Day 64: 3/15/11
I should have posted twice already, which would include about 2 weeks ago, and then a few days ago. I have had to do laundry a couple times since my last post. Once included tackling the large mound of laundry that had grown. The second was because I actually needed something.
Jeans.
I think that going about 6 weeks into the challenge without needing something is good. Or bad. However you look at it. I see it as good because I have a hard time finding jeans, so when I do find some, I buy them.
I have finally noticed that I am making a dent in my clothes. Looking in my shared closet, it seemed more empty. Same thing with my sock/underwear drawer. I can see that I am running out and getting low, but in reality, I still have a while to go. I think that sweater season is about over, and I still had quite a few sweaters that I could wear because I hadn't worn them yet. I am getting low on hoodies, too, but I am not out yet!
I have had to put some clothes back in the closet because they needed somewhere to go. I did put them in the back of my closet so that I would know that I have already worn it.
I will update you as soon as I have something to update!

Day 22: 2/1/11
I meant to post this last week and forgot...I had to do some laundry. Some for Shaun, the rest to have my laundry basket not overflow. Granted, the only thing I put back in the drawers were Shaun's clothes. Mine are neatly folded in a basket in my closet. :)
Sadly, another laundry day is upon me as the basket is full, again. At least I don't need anything yet...on Day 22!

Day 9: 1/19/11
This whole challenge has already started to take effect. I have begun going through EVERYTHING and purging like crazy. Which I find funny because I thought this would happen a lot LATER in the challenge. I actually have a few items of clothing that are on my "I may get rid of this after I wear it, but I'll see first" list. I think we all know that I will get rid of it.
I have yet to do a load of laundry, but that is looming in the air. The laundry basket is about to overflow, but I need to figure out what to do first. Do I put it in a different basket temporarily, or do I wash it (not out of necessity) but don't put it back away where I could wear it again, so the basket won't be overflowing? That in itself is quite a challenge.
I feel like I have barely BARELY (if at all) made a dent in my closet. I am finding myself wanting the challenge to speed up so I can decide what clothes I don't really want anymore.
I had a few intentions when beginning this challenge. First, I really was curious to see how long it could take me to wear everything once. Second, I wanted to get rid of clothes, but I have a hard time getting rid of things because I have a tendency to become attached fairly easily. I figured that if I wore something that I haven't worn in a long time, I may be reminded of WHY I haven't worn it in a while. Third, since I am 23 (almost 24) and am getting ready to embark on the last leg of my graduate school career, and begin my actual career, that I needed to mature my wardrobe, and myself as well. So far, I have 1/2 a bag of clothes for my cousin, 1 bag to go to Goodwill, and 1 bag to go to Plato's Closet to see if they want it to make me rich. That however may just go to Goodwill if they don't want it.
I think that is it for right now. I'll report next time I have a thought or an update.
Thanks for reading!

Day 1: 1/11/11
The Great Laundry Challenge is off to a great start! I am looking forward to continuing this challenge and see just how long it will take before I have to wash something out of necessity.

Preview of what is to come...
Ok, so here's the deal. For a few months, I have entertained the idea of creating a blog. However, I never knew exactly what I wanted to blog about. Today, while unpacking from a trip, it hit me. I was going to put myself through The Great Laundry Challenge.
What is The Great Laundry Challenge? Well, I'll tell you. I have an overabundance of shirts, socks, and clothes in general, and I have wondered for years even how long it would take me to wear everything without wearing the same thing twice before I've been through all that I have. Today (well, ok, a couple days from now) I will begin the quest for the answer.
I am starting fresh by doing all the laundry in the laundry basket. I will also begin on a day that will be easy to remember (1/11/11). Beginning on the 11th, I will begin the challenge.
Now, there are some things that I already know that I will have to wash. I know sheets, towels, jeans, and Shaun's work clothes will have to be done semi-regularly. Everything else will be reported on about once a week until I have my answer.
I have some planning to do before beginning but I am excited about this.
